Welcome to Streetside Library!
We are a New Orleans-based non-profit started by an educator and a social worker who are passionate about improving literacy. We aim to close the literacy gap in our city by bringing great books to kids and adults in the New Orleans area.
Our Mission
Youth in unstable living settings, in lower-income areas, and attending lower-performing schools often have limited access to books and do not read at their grade level. Streetside Library’s mission is to address this need by providing high-quality, diverse, and relevant books that engage young minds. By building a community of young people who enjoy reading, we can spark their social and emotional development while triggering their future educational achievement.
